Vacuum assisted closure (VAC)/negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) for difficult wounds dressing of infected surgical sites under aseptic conditions

Operio is a system that removes 99.9% of airborne bacteria and micro-organisms, including Coronavirus Covid-19, ensuring aseptic conditions during difficult wounds dressing of infected surgical sites

Vacuum-assisted closure of a wound is a type of therapy to help wounds heal. It’s also known as wound VAC. During the treatment, a device decreases air pressure on the wound. This can help the wound heal more quickly.

Many VAC therapies  ( NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY) are currently carried out in the operating room, because only there are appropriate aseptic conditions available. The transport of patients to the operating theater and back to the ward / intensive care unit is often very time-consuming and personnel-intensive, which is associated with high costs.

Operio mobile laminar air flow: VAC treatments (vacuum sealing therapy of wounds) can be carried out on the ward or in a local surgery room without compromising hygiene. The devices are also suitable for  smaller interventions or operations in the intensive care unit or normal ward, which require aseptic conditions. The devices are mobile and can be easily moved from one room to another. With only 6-7 patients per year, the devices have already paid for themselves!

The Operio Sterile Air Flow unit filters the ambient air through a highly purifying H 14 Hepa filter with an efficiency of over 99.9%, which eliminates bacteria and micro-organisms (including coronavirus covid 19) by over 99.9%! These units can be positioned to produce a “bacteria-free zone” that offers the greatest possible protection for both the surgical team and the patient, in that they filter 400 m3 of air per hour, thus reducing microorganisms in the entire room. The entirety of a standard practice area of 40 m3 will be completely filtered every 6 minutes.

Protecting healthcare personnel while intubating a patient with Covid19.

When inserting the tube or using a mask is a particularly delicate moment, which causes the virus to be released into the environment, making it dangerous for healthcare professionals.

The device creates an aseptic space that offers the maximum level of protection for doctors and nurses, while intubating a Covid-19 positive patient.

The device also has significant effects on the air of the environment where the patient is located, and protects the instruments and operating field against bacterial contamination, thus effectively preventing bacterial infections.

Many public and private structures use operio to perform minor procedures in outpatient settings, ensuring the highest level of asepsis. This helps shorten the long waiting lists caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and reserve the operating room for more complex procedures.
